Frequently Asked Questions

Why are prices now changing?

At the end of last year we wrote to customers about changes to the price of some of our monthly QuickBooks Online subscriptions and the introduction of subscription pricing for Payroll.

We changed prices for most QuickBooks Essentials and Plus subscriptions in January 2020 and were due to introduce a subscription fee for our standard Payroll product.  Customers who had signed up between 1 August and 24 November 2019 were due to have their prices change in April 2020.  However, we put all price changes including the introduction of subscription pricing for Payroll on hold for a few months.

These price changes will now take place from 16 November 2020.

Which QuickBooks prices are changing and when?

QuickBooks Online

The standard prices for QuickBooks Online Essentials and Plus subscriptions will change for those customers who have not already moved to the new pricing.

QuickBooks Standard Payroll

Our Standard Payroll Product will include a monthly subscription fee of £4 plus £1 per paid employee per month from 16 November 2020.  Payroll customers will be asked to agree to this new pricing when they log in to QuickBooks Online Payroll on or after this date.

QuickBooks Advanced Payroll introductory offer is ending

Customers who joined our Advanced Payroll Product had their subscription fee waived until 6 April 2020.  This introductory offer was extended and will now end on 15 November 2020.

Advanced Payroll customers will now be charged a monthly subscription fee of £8 plus £1 per paid employee per month   Payroll customers will be asked to agree to this new pricing when they log in to QuickBooks Online Payroll on or after 16 November.

Our special introductory offer for Paysuite customers is ending

Paysuite customers who moved to our Standard or Advanced Payroll Product had their subscription fee waived until 1 Aug 2020.  This introductory offer will be now ending on 16 November 2020.

Advanced Payroll customers will now be charged a monthly subscription fee of £8 plus £1 per paid employee per month  Payroll customers will be asked to agree to this new pricing when they log in to QuickBooks Online Payroll on or after 16 November.

How do I opt into the new Payroll pricing?

When you log into QuickBooks Online Payroll after 16 November you will be asked to agree to the new pricing.  Once you do this you will be able to continue running Payroll as usual.

If you are not the Primary Admin for your subscription you will need to ask the Primary Admin to agree to the new pricing before you can continue to run Payroll.

What happens if I don’t agree to the new pricing for Payroll?

If you don’t opt into the new pricing, you won't be able to use QuickBooks Online Payroll.  You will be able to access QuickBooks Online Payroll in "Read Only mode" for a year after this date, allowing you to access your data and download any reports you need.  Don’t worry, you’ll be able to opt in at any time during this period if you change your mind.

How are you telling customers about the price changes?

All affected customers were notified about the changes back in November last year in accordance with our terms and conditions.  Customers will also be sent an email notifying them of the new timing in advance of the changes taking place in November. Please make sure your email address is kept up to date so that you continue to receive important updates from us.

I recently upgraded my subscription. Will I be subject to this price increase?

Your new subscription will already be charged at the new pricing.

Can I change to a different plan?

If you think a different plan would work better for you, you can change it by logging into QuickBooks and visiting the billing and subscriptions page.

My subscription was cancelled and I’m past the 30 day re-subscribe period. Can I get the old pricing?

Unfortunately not. You will need to subscribe at the current market price.

I have a discounted subscription. Will the price changes affect me?

Yes, the new price will take effect from 16 November 2020, but we will continue to apply your discount to the new price.
