Is anyone having trouble connecting to HMRC for MTD?

I have been doing the VAT returns online through Quickbooks until April this year when all of a sudden HMRC can't seem to recognise my MTD

Is anyone having trouble connecting to HMRC for MTD?

You can reauthorize QuickBooks Online (QBO) to connect with HMRC, Mary.

 

Beforehand, could you please specify if you encountered an error connecting your HMRC to MTD, such as QuickBooks no longer being authorized to connect? If so, this issue could stem from an expired connection (after 18 months), incorrect credentials, unauthorized agent services, or mismatched VAT registration numbers.

 

To reauthorize QBO, here's how:

 

  1. Go to Taxes.
  2. Click the Edit VAT dropdown, then Edit Settings.

  3. Turn off MTD, and reconnect with MTD credentials.

  4. Hit Save.

 

Ensure your credentials are specific to MTD and not general Government Gateway credentials.
