Hi. I'm using QB Online. MTD has been enabled and it shows as such, but the VAT return for 01.05-31.07.2019 shows as Blocked, with this message error: "We can’t connect to HMRC right now." I've followed the required steps in setting up the MTD on the HMRC website, as instructed, but this error has been there since the MTD has been enabled, in June. At the time, my accountant phoned your team and the man said that we should give it a little time, and it will sort itself out. It didn't. What should I do? Thanks.

Dont know if anyone else has had similar but, i went vat registetred on june 1st 19. So did my first return april - june end, all went through fine, then since filing that it has pinged up another open return just for june but obviously these figures are included in my quarterly return. Accountnat has no idea why, QB helpline say its coming from HMRC end as when you turn off MTD its all correct turn it on again and it shows this open return. Waiting on a call back from HMRC which has been over a week now! What is strange when you first open up the tax page for a few seconds it shows the running total for the next quarter correctly then disappears and shows this random open return again. Any help would be greatly appreciated cheers

Hi, I have signed up for MTD with HMRC, but I am experiencing the same issue as the other people below, in that 'im getting the blocked message, tried disconnecting from MTD and reconnecting, no change, have contact HMRC who have confirmed i'm signed up and checked all details are correct still blocked. I'd like to provide some information concerning MTD VAT with HMRC and get you pointed in the right direction.

 

Our engineers recently identified this is an ongoing issue with QuickBooks. They're already investigating the root cause of this unexpected hitch and are working to implement a solution.

Keep getting this error message when trying to submit..... Validation failed This is first time using Mtd or any other digital software and its doing my head in please help I have until tomorrow to submit

An incorrect login credential is likely the reason why you’re unable to submit MTD in QuickBooks Online. Ensure that the same details are used for the connection setup.


If you just recently sign up for Making Tax Digital, make sure to wait for an email confirmation from HMRC advising that you can file using MTD.

However, if you continue to get the same result after checking out all possible causes of the message prompt, I recommend contacting the Customer Care Team. They can pull up your account in a secure environment, which we are unable to do in this public forum and gather data to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Also, they have the tools to create a ticket in case they need to conduct a further investigation about the problem.

Hi, I tried to file VAT with an exception carried forward from previous quarter but it got rejected. I then went back and believe that I rectified the exception amount to match the previous VAT return but it does not go away from the submitted/rejected VAT return. Is there a way to submit a renewed return where exception report won't appear as I feel that would then match the VAT liability for the quarter with HMRC and the report won't be rejected.

I can help share some additional information about filing VAT with exemption in QuickBooks Online (QBO) UK. 

 

First, I'd like to acknowledge the detailed information you've shared about your concern. The VAT exception occurs when you edit the transaction that has already been filed from the previous period. 

 

There are two ways to remove the amounts on the VAT exception, you'll need to adjust your VAT liability or you can un-file the previous period (not connected to MTD). 

 

Either of the two options you choose, I encourage you to contact our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They have additional tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and walk you through the process.

Hi, I've just made my first MTD return with QBO. I am normally part of the FR scheme but something is not right as the UK government has just paid me a refund on vat I paid out . I am about to contact the government but thought I would try QBO first. Please advise. regards vincent

I would double-check if you have updated your QBO to be on FRS

 

You can check by going to in QBO VAT settings >  and click the FRS option

Quickbooks is saying my VAT returns are complete, but when I go onto HMRC it's saying I haven't submitted anything this year. Any ideas?

This is an absolute nightmare. I cannot submit my VAT return through quickbooks online as the system tells me that the filing dates don't line up. Ive now... - Spoken to Quickbooks support who say that everything is fine. - Spoken to HMRC who passed me through to the making tax digital team - Waited 10 days for a callback from the Making Tax Digital Team who then said that it was a technical issue with either QB or MTD. I've now passed my VAT deadline submission and still can't submit a return. I'm pulling my hair out. Any ideas?

Everytime I submit my quarterly paperwork it comes up with an error message saying that the dates don't match, tried calling the helpline number three times and each time there is over an hours wait!! Please help!!
