Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

Thanks for your response.  I have resolved this by disconnecting from HMRC in Quickbooks and then clicking the link to manage/remove the software application permissions linked to my Government Gateway account. Then I was able to set up the HMRC connection settings again on Quickbooks, grant permissions on HMRC Gateway Account and the submit return.  I did try to post a detailed reply in this community but the reply seems to have disappeared.

Hi Zeus

I don't know if it will work for you but I had this problem and I removed the MTD settings in Company Settings | Advanced and when doing this clicked the link above the CONTINUE button on one of the pages.  This should take you to https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/applications-manage-authority/applications.  If you don't see this after ignoring the warnings and removing the MTD settings frim Quickbooks you can go straight to this web address.  You will need to log in with your government gateway account that you use to log in for VAT.  You should see "Quickbooks listed as an app that is authorised to access your account.  I didn't see that when I was having the problem but just accessing this page seemed to clear the problem.  If you do see quickbooks listed you could try clicking it and pressing the REMOVE button.  The access will be set up again when you re-set up MTD within Quickbooks (starting at "Learn more" on your "Taxes" page for VAT).  Good luck.  It worked for me but I don't know why.  I can only assume that with these problems being raised both Quickbooks and HMRC are putting in small fixes and so by removing MTD from Quickbooks and removing the permissions from HMRC and starting again you should be using the latest version of the respective software functions. This is pure speculation though.

I am having the same issue.

Have now disconnected as below to see if this resolved, but is still showing as Blocked.

Should the disconnection be instant?

I just need to record the VAT payment but am unable to.

Hey @BordersSS

Please post back on here tomorrow,if you are still getting the error after 8.30am.

The only other piece of advice i may add to those pieces as I've came across is one customer (before the maintenance) who had got the incorrect ASA(Accountant Access)/Gateway ID (SMB Access) for his VAT registration number. A phone-call to HMRC identified that.

Thanks for everyone's input, and welcome all to the UK Community for QuickBooks Smiley Happy

Hello Borders SS

Can we just confirm did your accountant set up the MTD authorisation for you or have you done this yourself?

Thank you

Hello KathySB,

Just to check, have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the MTD connection?

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

I'm having the same trouble and have had since the end of Feb.  I've tried support who told me it was my accountants log in causing the trouble. Accountants have refreshed it and it's no different.  I registered MTD myself nothing to do with accountant.  It's still blocked today and i've tried disconnecting and reconnecting on QB.  Are there any steps on HMRC that i should be following during that disconnect/reconnect process?  If there aren't then it's still not working.

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

Hi Zeus

We recommend prior to the authorise process going to HMRC and filling in the following you will then get an email confirmation from them within 3 days

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sign-up-for-making-tax-digital-for-vat#sign-up-your-business

However we do need to mention if you are on the Flat rate scheme then the ability to file for MTD will be available via the bridging tool in the product from the 1st of April

Kind regards

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

yes i did that and i have the email confirmation from HMRC that i'm on MTD.

is this a known bug?  It seems a fair number of people have got this problem and there doesn't seem to be a sensible answer for it.

Support just keep giving basic suggestions and once it gets to the end of the suggestions everything just goes quiet.

We need this sorted. We are legally required to have this working by 1 April, and there doesn't seem to be anything we can do as clients to get it working. It's a pretty poor service at the moment to be honest.

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

Hi Zeus

We appreciate that this is of the utmost importance. We are sorry about the experience in getting this set up.We have been advised by our tier 2 level support that everything will be ready for the 1st April and you will be able to file and be complaint MTD by that date

Are you on the Flat Rate Scheme? The bulk of customers who have this issue are on this scheme. We are in consultation with HMRC and we will be MTD ready by the date.

Hi Emma, No I'm not on the FRS.

I'll wait a week or so and try again. - Should I disconnect from QB and on the HMRC website in the meantime?

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

Hi

MTD been working online through quickbooks ok since Monday 8.30am since HMRC update.  Just had another look at it in quickbooks online and its now saying undefined - error has occurred whilst processing your request.

As I understand it from the comments above, Quickbooks are still working on the system again and will be up and running by 1st April.  Not feeling all that confident at the moment with Quickbooks, cant afford to run a software that cant deliver on time.

Hi Zeus

Yes if you can try disconnect and then leave it for a few days and try reconnecting and let us know here. We have been advised it will be open and running before 1st April. Just make sure the set up at HMRC side has the correct information for you

Thanks

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC and the return has a status saying blocked. How can I fix this?

Having been suffering from a VAT blockage, I've just de-registered for electronic VAT submission in QB and gone through the whole process with the HMRC online MTD sign up. QB did show that I was signed  up for MTD but just couldn't log on like many others on here. While going through the HMRC site's sign up process it wasn't until the very last page that it told me that the old system of submitting VAT won't work and that you have to reapply for MTD submissions. Why this isn't on either the HMRC or QB pages I don't know?

I've now got to wait up to 72 hours to see if I'm in. Let you know!

Re: I have set up MTD, had confirmation from HMRC but Quickbooks says it is not connected to HMRC...

Hello there, GPTS.

Thanks for sharing your experience about submitting the tax return via MTD. Allow me to share some information on why you’ve been blocked from processing the form.

Our engineers are aware that some customers are unable to submit the VAT through MTD. They’re currently working towards finding a permanent fix to get this feature working again.

Since you’ve already deregistered and re-registered the MTD, let’s wait for the email confirmation that you can submit your clients' returns digitally. While waiting, I suggest you get in touch with our QBO Support Team.

To contact them:

  1. Go to Help at the top, then click on the Contact Us link.
  2. In the How can we help? window, enter contact support in the field box.
  3. Select Let’s talk.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us.
  5. Select Start messaging/We'll call you.

One of our specialists can add you to the notification list of affected users. You’ll receive an email once the resolution is available.

Rest assured, I’ll update this post once there’s progress about the issue.

I appreciate your patience while we look into this. Let me know how it goes after contacting them. I’m always here to make sure this is taken care of.

Got my confirmation through from HMRC to say that I’d registered for MTD. Went into QB my VAT return went straight through. I think the issue is with HMRC and not QB as HMRC have also changed my direct debit references

I have had exactly the same problem.  I received confirmation from HMRC that the client was registered for MTD but after turning on MTD in QB and authorising the software, the status showed as blocked.  After a very long phone call to HMRC I discovered that there is an extra step that needs to be performed.  Login to your Agent Services Account (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sign-in-to-your-agent-services-account) and then click on "Manage user access to your agent services account"  Then select "Clients" and allocate a user to your client.  You may need to turn off MTD in QB and then re-authorise, but it should then remove the block.
