VAT Return - Error Message

Hi

 

In need of sme help.

 

I'm using Desktop version of Quickbooks & attemtping to submit my quarterly VAT Return.

 

Recently registerd with HMRC for submiting digital return which i have been doing anyway via Quickbooks.

 

When trying to submit this quarters VAT Return, receiving the following error message....

 

"The submission of this document has failed due to departmental specific business logic in the Body tag."

 

Can anyone help resolve this issue???

Hi there, eshlimited. 

 

Let's check your filing details in QuickBooks to see what's causing this error.

 

You'll need to make sure that you're filing details are the same with your schedule in your gateway account. This is to prevent from getting any error messages. Here's a reference for the detailed steps: How to submit a VAT return to HMRC - MTD for QuickBooks Desktop.

 

If the details are correct and you've authorised QuickBooks to interact with HMRC for tax filing, let's have this escalated. I would recommend reaching out to our phone team so they can help correct the error.

  1. Click the Help menu and choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact us at the bottom.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue and click Continue.
  4. Select Talk to a Specialist.

I had same problem.

Evidently if you are going to REPORTS  tab and VAT 100 and filing the return that way, it's the old portal and does not work for MTD.

You have to go to the VAT tab on the top (not reports tab) and use the drop down menu to FILE VAT. Then you can select MTD option and connect with HMRC. I evidently did this last quarter but just can't remember doing it. I know I was speaking to an operator to help me as I had just downloaded QB Desktop 2019.  Anyway I'm posting this message so that people who are having the same error message can check out this solution before phoning QB support. I was trying to do it late at night so of course they were not available - I wish I had found a solution as it caused me a bad nights sleep as the return was due today. Anyway all sorted now that's to great customer support.
