SOLVEDby QuickBooks2Updated January 29, 2024

Request accountant access

If you would like your accountant to easily access your QuickBooks Time account, follow these steps to send the request. You can have up to two accountants accessing your QuickBooks Time company.

Note: Only a primary admin can invite an accountant.

  1. Go to Company Settings and select Accountant Access.
  2. Select Manage firms in QuickBooks Online.
  3. On the Manage users page, select the Accountants tab.
    • If you are adding an accountant for the first time, enter your accountant's email, then select Invite.
    • If you've already added an accountant user, select Invite, enter the First name, Last name, Email of your accountant, then select Save.
Note: See Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online for more details.
  4. Your accountant will receive an email, inviting them to create a new account for QuickBooks Accountant, or sign into an existing one.

If the invite expires, you can resend it:

  1. Go to Company Settings and select Accountant Access.
  2. Select Manage firms in QuickBooks Online.
  3. On the Manage users page, select the Accountants tab.
  4. Locate the accounting firm in pending state.
  5. From the Action column, select Resend invite.
  6. Select Resend Invite again on the confirmation pop-up.

Revoke accountant access

  1. Go to Company Settings and select Accountant Access.
  2. Select Manage firms in QuickBooks Online.
  3. On the Manage users page, select the Accountants tab.
  4. Locate the accounting firm you'd like to remove.
  5. From the Action column, select Delete.
Note: If the accounting firm has not accepted the invite yet, Delete may be available under the dropdown ▼ in the Action column.
  6. Select Delete to confirm.
