Add a customer reference number to invoices

I currenly include a customers work order referance number as an item within their invoice. Is there a way of adding this in its own dedicated position in the same way as happens with the Invoice number, terms & date Etc?

I think what you will be looking for is a Custom Field this feature is not included in QuickBooks Online Simple Start this feature is included in Essentials and Plus where you would be able to add a custom field. this is something which would need to be manually entered on each invoice with it being custom.

 

You can upgrade to the Essentials and Plus packages however you can't then downgrade the same account back to Simple Start. I would advise checking this link here which gives details of features in these versions to see if there anything else which you may need for your business. You can also feedback for the Simple Start version on this link here.

Are you using QuickBooks Online? Which version are you using? There may be the option to use custom fields.

Hi, I am using the Simple Start online version. I am also using an uploaded custom template that I could add it too but can't see a way of filling that in via the new invoice screen. ...Or are QB fiendishly clever and the screen I see is based on my template?

Oh well, looks like I will be continuing to add the work order number as an item. My need Re QB are very simple and I can't justify the upgrade as there are so many features that I wouldn't use.
