Can you add 'tags' as a column in the new bank transactions sorting page? Also, can you convert all tags to locations? i.e. if tagged with X then mark as location Y?

I currently use tags for locations that our business operates and always had doe. When tags was going to be removed I upgraded to access the locations feature. To quickly sort transactions in the bank transactions page I need to have 'tag's as a column to save having to go into each transaction. Is there a way to do this? Failing that I would be open to using locations as they were intended but I would want this to go back to the starts so can I bulk convert tags to locations? Or can QB do this for me on the backend if I provide a list of if tagged with X then mark as location Y? Thanks,

Hi, Lumina. I hear you. Since tags are being sunset, you need a dependable way to quickly categorize transactions directly from the Bank transactions page. You can still use tags today as an existing user, but there isn’t a way to turn tags into locations or add tags as a column.

If you want a sustainable setup, you are correct that location tracking is the best path. To access that page, you need to manually recreate the tag names that you use as Locations on the Locations page.

Refer to this article for detailed guidance on setting up locations: Set up and use location tracking in QuickBooks Online.

When location tracking is enabled, the Location column will automatically appear on the Bank transactions page, allowing you to assign the appropriate Location as you categorize new transactions.

For transactions already posted or in your books, you can open each one and add the Location. If you need to update many transactions at once, the Reclassify transactions tool allows you to move multiple transactions to the appropriate Location in bulk.

That tool is available to QuickBooks Online Advanced, or you can invite your accountant to handle the process using their QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) account; they can run it for you.
