The active tax year can’t be changed because it’s fixed by HMRC (6 April–5 April). QuickBooks Online (QBO) assigns each pay run to a tax year based on the pay date. The system locks you into the current tax year for processing payroll, which prevents the use of incorrect tax tables and thresholds, protects RTI submissions, and preserves closed year-end records.
