HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Hi, I have read other threads concerning uploading HSBC credit card transactions but cannot still work out my situation. I moved to online QB from desktop version. So all my accounts were moved over as per QB's system. When I click on Banking it shows my two main bank accounts with HSBC. Nothing else. I understand downloading CSV files from HSBC and uploading them to these two accounts. But how to upload to my HSBC credit card CSV files if it doesn't appear under the Banking section? Can only see HSBC Credit Card under Chart of Accounts.

Hi biffdiff

Navigate to the banking section > in the top right hand corner select file upload > browse > select the CSV file > next > then use the drop down menu to select your credit card chart of account > next > map the QuickBooks fields to that on your CSV > next...

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Thanks, John. Also, if anyone else sees this, once uploaded the Credit card account did not turn up in the banking section. I went off to another menu and then went came back to Banking and it was there.

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Strangely the first csv I uploaded, once I'd reviewed the transactions, it showed them as Expenses. On the second upload it only shows them as CC-Credit. Now, the CC-Credit transactions do show under Expenses but just want to make sure this is correct and wondering why the change?

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Hi there, @biffdiff!

Your transactions are dependent on your mapping settings when uploading your transactions. I'm here to share a few insights and help you from there.

First off, when uploading your transactions, you can select or specify your preferred mapping set up. This is one of the reasons why you have two different types of transactions when uploading them.

In case you need some reference, here's an article you can read to learn more about uploading your transactions: Manually Upload Transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Lastly, I'll be also including an article that might help you handle your future banking tasks: Assign, Categorise, Edit, and Add your Downloaded Banking Transactions.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment sections down below. I'll be always around ready to help.

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Hi JonpriL, Thanks for your reply. I will read those. But just to ask, if the CC-Credit is showing under 'Expenses' I presume it has been registered as an expense in any case, even if the title is different?

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Hello,

It may be due to the csv file you uploaded. In your file, do you only have one Amount column? If so, do you have a minus symbol in front of any transactions that are expenses, and do any credits show as positive figures?

If it has 2 columns, can you ensure that you selected the correct field mapping, i.e. definitely selected Money In for your income transactions and Money Out for your expenses?

Thanks,

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Hi Talial, The csv does have 2 columns - 3rd for Paid Out and 4th for Paid In. The first CSV I uploaded did have one entry under Paid In because a retailer made a refund. So when I uploaded it I chose '2 columns' and allocated them as such. These entries came up as Expenses in For Review. The second CSV I uploaded had no entries under Paid In and I was not given the 'Paid In' option under Mapping. So only chose '1 column'. These entries came up as 'CC-Credit' in For Review> I'm not fussed if they are as 'CC-Credit' as long as they are still considered as expenses in Quickbooks. That's the main crux. Otherwise I'll just place a false 'Paid In' entry on each CSV file to make sure they always show as Expenses. However, some of the stuff I pay on credit card is VAT bills to Couriers for international imports. For these I have to modify the VAT box to ensure it is 100% vat being shown but in the 'CC-Credit' form this option is not available. P.S. The links provided in the earlier post don't seem to work :-)

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

If you are using one column, you just need to make sure any expenses are negative figures, i.e. -100 - it will then read these as money out and post them as such. Any money in would then just be a positive figure, i.e. 100. CC-Credit is an income transaction, and so you will need to upload these again so they show as expenses. In regards to the links above, could you please try opening these on a private or incognito window?

Thanks,

Re: HSBC Business Credit Card uploading transactions?

Thanks, Talia. I'm just creating a fake entry into the CSV as Paid In which I then delete once uploaded. That way I can use the 2 column system and it all enters as expenses. Seems to be doing the trick. Cheers!
