Purchase Order Template

Hello Community

We have a "Customer" field on our purchase order templates - in the Desktop version of QB if you generate a purchase order from a sales order the customers name is auto-filled on the purchase order into the customer field.  We are now using the on-line version and if  I generate a purchase order from the "estimate" the only way to get the customer's name in that field is to manually enter...?

Does anyone know how to get this detail to autofill?

Many thanks

Lisa

Re: Purchase Order Template

Thanks for replying so quickly.  We have a report we use to track the profit, however if it was autofill it would be one less thing to remember to enter Smiley Wink

Re: Purchase Order Template

Hello Lisa,

When creating an estimate, it asks you to select a customer in the top field. When this is copied to a purchase order, as this is an order you would submit to a supplier, the field now asks for a supplier name. This therefore means the field will not auto-fill with a customer name, as it is instead asking for a supplier to be entered. When copying an estimate to an invoice, this box will be auto-filled with the customer's name.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

Re: Purchase Order Template

Hi again Talia

Thank you for your reply, but I don't think I've done a very good job of explaining.

Yes I would have already created an estimate for the customer and saved it, then instead of invoicing I use the drop down to select and create (a linked) purchase order.  When the purchase order appears, yes I add the supplier details.  The area on the purchase order I am enquiring about is in the attached screen grab.  You will see a column called customer; this has a drop down from where I can select the customer whose estimate the purchase order refers.  In the desktop version of QB this field filled automatically I think,  Any thoughts on how I can get this to happen in the online version?

I appreciate your help.

Re: Purchase Order Template

Hello Lisa,

I apologise for the misunderstanding. Unfortunately this field will not automatically fill - this is more aimed towards billing your customers for the purchase, or linking the expense to a project so you can track the profitability, in which case the system does not assume this will be the same customer as entered in the estimate. Can I check if this is what you are wanting to do?

Thank you,
