As I know, the app only supports QB Online Essentials or higher. It doesn't support QB Self-Employed or QBO Simple Start.

Hi there, Neill.

Connecting your bank to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) can sometimes be challenging, but there are steps you can take to resolve it. I’ll guide you how to search for your bank, explain the possible reasons it may not appear, and guide you on how to request support.

The several reasons why your bank may not appear or connect successfully with QBSE:

  • Multiple names in the system. Search carefully and try alternative links or use your bank’s sign-in URL for accurate results.
  • Account type restrictions. Some banks only connect personal or business accounts, not both.
  • Non-participating institution. If your bank isn’t supported yet, you can submit a support request.

When searching your bank in QBSE:

  • Use the exact name of your bank as it appears on its website spelling matters.
  • Try broader or alternative names if the exact name doesn’t work (e.g., "Citi" instead of "Citibank").
  • Search using your bank’s login URL (e.g., "hsbc.com") for more accurate results.
  • Check your bank card for the name of the issuing bank and search for that directly (e.g., "Citi" instead of "Visa").

If you’ve tried all options to search for your bank’s name and still can’t connect, or if your bank doesn’t appear, you can submit a request support in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Connect bank.
  2. Search for your bank. If QuickBooks can't find it, you'll see the message: “Hmm, we can’t find [bank name] in our list of supported banks,” along with tips to help locate your account.
  3. If your bank still doesn’t appear, click Request.
  4. Enter your bank’s name and the sign-in URL (the website you use to log in to your account), then click Request to submit.

Additionally, while requesting a connection, you can manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed to keep your financial records up to date. Once the connection is successfully established, you’ll have the option to exclude any duplicate entries to keep your records accurate.

Feel free to click the Reply button, if you have additional questions about connecting your bank in QBSE.
