This has put our trail balance out of balance!
If i click 'view payments' I get nothing.
Basically, I cannot trace, edit or delete this imaginary transaction.

It's possible that the paycheque wasn't deleted. It was only voided. Once it's voided, you can still see the transaction. Though, the amount is zero and shouldn't affect your trial balance.
Below is a sample of a voided cheque.
Since it's affecting your reports, I suggest getting in touch with an agent to have this checked further. Here's how:

Yes, I spoke to someone called Visnu Castro, who asked me to send it on an email and he would get back to me. Unfortunately, he's since ignored all of my emails
