We have been submitting our VAT returns to HMRC through QuickBooks for 3 years without a problem This error only appeared this week. I have heard there are issues with Xero as well. Is there a problem with the interface between QuickBooks and HMRC. The agent on your helpline said there have been many phone calls about it but wasn’t any help and said to contact HMRC. Their phone line and online chat were permanently busy yesterday.
Could you please find out if this is an issue affecting others or not? Deadline for filing is 07/12/20
I have just contacted HMRC. They say that my login and password are correct. Apparently, the problem is with the software link from Quickbooks to HMRC.
Could you please get someone to check this out.
A phone call or email would be appreciated if you can’t talk me through it on here.
Welcome to the Community page,
We are a social media team, we are unable to make outbound calls to customers. You would need to ring the helpline on 0808 234 5337 and the agent will be able to set up a screen share with you and take a look at what is happening for you. And have a look in the systems with your vat registration to see what HMRC are saying and provided support to you from there.
So did you find out from your agents if this was an issue affecting others in the community or not?
Directing me to the helpline whose agent wasn’t any help isn’t really any help at all.
Please try to address the question. It is VERY frustrating being told to contact Quickbooks, then HMRC, then Quickbooks. Our system on Quickbooks and HMRC has worked without a hitch until we received this
Hello there, KevinG.
The error means that the credentials used to connect QBO to HMRC for MTD are not authorised to see the details for the VAT registration number or the user is the wrong user type. You may need to wait to receive the confirmation email. I checked our system and didn't find similar issues. You can reach out to our Phone Support Team so we can help you through it and get in touch with HMRC about the error.
Let me know if you have other questions. Take care!
Did you get his resolved as I too am having the same issue, we have been submitted via MTD and it was time for the Agent granting authority again which I have done but the error wont disappear obviously I need to upload my clients VAT submission.
Hello lsmithbookkeeping, Can you go to the cog in the top right and go to the settings>Making tax detail>and disconnect the connection and then go to reconnect it again making sure the credentials are correct, that should then resolve that issue😊
Hi there, dmdavy.
Thank you for bringing this issue into the Community. Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect your MTD/HMRC again? Please open a new browser like google chrome and click the 3 dots on the upper right. Then select incognito/private window, this browser works a lot better for troubleshooting. Try login into your QuickBooks Account. Then try to disconnect and reconnect your HMRC/MTD again.
If in case the error persists, please try a different device, laptop, mobile phone using an app or browser. You can also try to use the data because it may be a network issue. If the error continues, try to log out and log back in to refresh the page.
If the same thing happens, I recommend reaching out to our Customer support team. This way, one of our representatives will be able to pull up your account and help you identify the cause of the problem. Please refer to this link on how to contact our customer support team. To ensure that you'll be assisted immediately, I recommend checking our support hours.
