Etsy billing charges in the United Kingdom

Sometimes things get lost in translation. Unfortunately, our system downloaded Etsy bill charges under the wrong currency for our customers in the United Kingdom. After you update your account to clear those transactions, you need to connect the account you use to pay your Etsy bill charges. That way we can bring the charges back and help you keep everything shipshape.

If you pay Etsy bill charges by card, bank account, or PayPal:

  1. Connect the account you use to pay for your Etsy bill charges.
  2. Find your bill charge payments (try searching for "Etsy.com IR" or "Etsy Ireland").
  3. Change the category to “Other business expenses.”
  4. You may consider Use rules to speed up reviewing and categorising transactions to automatically categorise these bill charge transactions in the future.

If you pay Etsy bill charges with your Etsy shop account:

  1. Find your bill charge payments (try searching for “Bill payment”).
  2. Change the category to “Other business expenses.”
  3. You may consider setting up a rule to automatically categorise these bill charge transactions in the future.

If your sales went through PayPal:

If you’re required to pay VAT, your PayPal sales will also include the VAT your buyer pays. Etsy pays this amount on your behalf, and later charges it to your Etsy bill.

Heads up: You’ll need to manually split your Etsy bill payment transactions to properly categorise them. Creating a rule won’t work here.

Here’s how you can split your bill payment transactions:

  1. Etsy fees other than VAT: “Other business expenses”
  2. VAT paid by Etsy on your behalf: "VAT paid”
