Account created wrongly in creditors group instead of credit card group. how to change this in QB

There are factors you need to look into so you can change an account type in your QuickBooks Online (QBO), raghu. I'm here to help you accomplish this process.

Before we proceed, I'd like to ask what specific steps you have taken to determine that this account is incorrectly set up. Also, have you created this account manually or imported it? This way, we can give you a more specific resolution.

Please know that Creditors and Credit cards are two different accounts in QBO. Hence, it's not possible to modify them. At the same time, changing an account is only possible if an account isn't a default account in QBO. You can refer to this article for more information about the accounts you want to delete, edit, or merge: Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts.

Since making changes isn't available, I recommend creating a new account for your credit card group and inactivating the incorrect account. I'll walk you through the process of doing so.

To create one, here's how:

  1. In your upper right corner, head to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click the New button.
  4. On the Account window, add the necessary information.
  5. Hit Save and Close.

Once done, let's go ahead and inactive the other account to avoid difficulties. Here's how:

  1. In your upper right corner, click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate or search for the incorrect account you've made.
  4. In the Action column, click the dropdown button, then choose Make inactive.
