How do I print historical VAT return reports?

I can see the reports on the screen, but can't find a way of downloading a PDF or CSV or XLS.  I need them for evidence.

Hi Leonard.

Thank you for contacting Community.

If you wanted copies of the actually submissions you have made to HMRC, the only way you would be able to do this would be to access the previous submissions from Taxes page and click on the drop down arrow at the end of the desired return. If you click View Summary you would have access to the return that was filed to HMRC. However, you would not be able to Print or Save the reports directly from this page. The only way would be to Screenshot the page and save that manually.

Alternatively, if you go to the Reports page on the far left of your QuickBooks and select All Reports you will be able to select VAT reports which will allow you print and save the data. Unfortunately there isn't a report showing the exact return that was submitted to HMRC but you would be able to print or save VAT Detail reports and VAT exception reports for the selected period.

Depending what information you require, you will be able to save or print the reports from the Reports page however if trying to obtain a copy of previously filed returns through the Taxes page you would have to screenshot the return.
