How do I show a total on the TAG report

Hi, @ShopAdmin.

I can help walk you through the steps on how to show the tag total amount reports in QuickBooks Online.

Let's open the Profit and Loss by Tag Group instead of the Transaction list by Tag Group to show the total amount. You can customize it to show the specific details.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab on the left side, then type Profit and Loss by Tag Group in the search box.
  2. Click the Customize button.
  3. Choose a Report period in the drop-down.
  4. Under Columns drop-down, choose the group name.
  5. In the Tags drop-down, pick the exact group name under the Filter field.
  6. Tap Run Report
  7. Click the amount under the group name., then the transaction report will show up.

You can also hit the Save Customization to save the report. It will save on the Custom report page. Memorizing reports in QuickBooks, it’ll help you save time since it automatically updates every time there are newly added transactions.

You also have an option to turn on the Automatic send email reports feature in QBO. For more information, visit this article: Set schedule and email information for a memorised report.

Just hit the Reply button if you have any other questions. I'll keep an eye on your response.

How do I show a total on the TAG report

Hi @MichelleBh

Thanks for the detailed reply.

It seems that the only way to report on these flags is to generate a P&L report, and then I can only view each account individually.

I wanted to able to show "all transactions" across all the accounts where they have been allocated a TAG....and this I cannot do.

I have also found a major failing in the TAGS......you cannot "hide them/delete them" when you want to stop using them and still retain the data that you have allocated against them....as such they are there in the pick list for ever - even when the TAG is no longer being used

How do I show a total on the TAG report

Is it possible to pull a balance sheet report by tags? Some items I've tagged are balance sheet items, so don't show up on the Profit and Loss by Tag Group report. Basically looking for a report called Balance Sheet by Tag Group.

Thank you!

Thanks for joining in this conversation, @REI_hiker

At the moment, you can only create two types of reports with tags: The Transaction List by Tag and the Profit & Loss by Tag.

I understand that you need the Balance Sheet by Tag report. I'm taking note of this request for future consideration. Please note that all our suggested plans are still subject for further study.

I'd recommend you visit the QuickBooks Online blog regularly to get updated about what's new in QuickBooks.

I am sorry but the whole TAG process is pointless.  As they are not embedded and cannot be hidden or archived, only deleted they are in effect useless.

I'll make sure to help you today, @MariaTLP.

Let me walk you through the steps on how to show the tag total amount reports in QuickBooks Online.

You can open the Profit and Loss by Tag Group instead of the Transaction list by Tag Group to show the total amount.

Here's how you can do it:

  1. Select Reports, from the left pane. Then, type Profit and Loss by Tag Group in the search box.
  2. Click the Customize button.
  3. Select a Report period in the drop-down.
  4. Choose the group name.
  5. In the Tags drop-down, pick the exact group name under the Filter field.
  6. Click on Run Report.
  7. Click the amount under the group name., then the transaction report will show up.

To save the report, you can also hit the Save Customization option. It will save on the Custom report page. This way, you can save time since it updates automatically if there are newly added transactions.

Also, please note that you need to click on the amount for a specific account to view the transactions linked to the tag, then export it to an Excel file.

That works except when I export the P&L totals are all $00

Also, I need to export the detailed transactions (net of hst) or at least detailing out the hst

Thanks for getting back to us, @MariaTLP.

You can manually change the display in the report by clicking the Display columns by drop-down below the Report period section. This will show the totals in the report.

Once done, you can now export the report to Excel. Here's how:

  1. Click the Export between Print and Gear icons at the upper right.
  2. In the drop-down, select Export to Excel.
