Is anyone else finding that accruals are not appearing in the balance sheet? The total includes the figure but the line is not appearing. It does however show in the TB

I have noticed on a number of clients that where we have nominal accounts under the Accruals and deferred income the balance sheet is omitting this line.

Hello, @michelle219.

There are a few things that could be causing these lines not to show. We can check some settings in your QuickBooks to show these rows on your Balance Sheet report.

When you manually add a transaction entry in QuickBooks under Accruals and Deferred Income, it may not appear in your reports if the Accounting method is set to Cash instead of Accrual. You can change this setting at the top of the report to display both paid and unpaid transactions.

Here's the process:

  1. Head to Reports.
  2. Open your Balance Sheet report.
  3. Under the Accounting method, choose Accrual
  4. Hit Run Report.

While the Trial Balance report lists all accounts, the Balance Sheet report does not show the parent header, even though the amounts are included in the Current Liabilities section. In the Balance Sheet report, a parent account with a zero balance can be hidden if the report is customized to display only non-zero or active rows.

Here's the quickest way to check and fix this:

  1. Open your Balance Sheet report.
  2. Go to Customise in the top right corner of your screen.
  3. Head to Rows/Columns dropdown.
  4. In the Show non-zero or Active only dropdown, select All, both Show rows and Show columns tab.
  5. Select Run report.

We can also look for an Expand button/dropdown at the top of your report. Sometimes QuickBooks groups sub-accounts under a single heading, hiding the individual line you're looking for.

Let's talk more if you have any other questions/concerns.
