sending p45 to HMRC

It's good to have you here in the Community space, Swapskills. I can assist you in processing your payroll to send P45 and Full Payments Submission (FPS) to HRMC.

Beforehand, please know that payroll and p45 processing are unavailable in QuickBooks Self-employed (QBSE). These options are only obtainable in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Standard and Advanced Payroll.

If you're trying to process your employee's final payroll and send a Final Payment Submission (FPS) to HRMC. I'll guide you through the steps, depending on your QBO Payroll subscription

If you're on Standard Payroll, mark the employee as a Leaver first. Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll and choose Employees.
  2. Tap the employee's name.
  3. Click the Actions button and pick Mark as a leaver.
  4. Enter the Leaving date and Reason.
  5. Hit Save.

Next, run the final payroll and send the Full Payment Submission (FPS). If you've already paid the employee, we'll tell HMRC when you send your next FPS.

Once done, the P45 form will be available in the Documents tab of the employee's profile afterward. You can then access it and give the employee their P45.

Additionally, if you're on QBO Advanced Payroll, navigate through this article and refer to the P45 in Advanced Payroll for a complete guide on this process: P45 forms in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

The steps outlined above should guide you through effectively managing employees leaving your company. If you have any additional questions or there are specific scenarios you’re unsure about, don’t hesitate to add a post below. I'll make sure to get back to you promptly. Stay safe
