when drilling down to a category form the trail balance report the opening balance of the account is not showing

Hi there, patrick84. When you drill down into an account from the Trial Balance report in QuickBooks Online, the detailed view only displays transactions within the selected date range. If the opening balance was recorded before the start of that period, it will appear as a line item but won’t show an amount because it falls outside the report range.
 

To view the opening balance with its amount:
 

1. Go to Reports > Standard Reports.
2. Search for and click the Trial Balance report.
3. Drill down into the account you want to review.
4. Set the Report period to All Dates or manually enter a start date that matches when the opening balance was first recorded.
    

This ensures the opening balance is included within the report range, allowing the full amount to display in the detailed view.
