Learn what’s new and improved in the latest updates to QuickBooks Desktop 2019 and Enterprise 19.0.

We update QuickBooks regularly to give you a better experience and fix issues. These release notes explain what's new and improved.

Note that each new update includes all the changes from earlier updates.

If you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will download updates for you. But you can check for updates manually at any time.

Release 17 (R17) - April 2022

What’s important about Release 17?

Discontinuation Policy

Service discontinuation will occur after May 31st, 2022. Notification messages for the following:

  • Accountant Copy File Transfer (ACFT)
  • Multi currency - download exchange rates
  • Contributed Reports - share and rate custom reports 
  • Online banking services
  • Payments and e-invoices
  • QuickBooks email
  • Payroll
  • T-sheets

 

What’s important about Release 16?

Account ManagementThe QuickBooks company file uses the Intuit Account to connect to online services. With this update, we’re asking the QuickBooks Admin to sign into their Intuit Account if they have not done so in a long time.
Report issue fixWith this release, you can open your memorised reports from QuickBooks 2018. After you update, rebuild data and it'll repair your reports.
User ManagementNon Admin users of QuickBooks Enterprise with the accounts payable role can now send a Request for Access to the Primary Admin to join the company file Intuit account.
Account ManagementAccessing Manage My QuickBooks account, from the Help menu, no longer requires an Intuit account to sign in if the user has already done so elsewhere in the file.
Payroll Direct DepositWhen activating direct deposit for payroll, a user that is neither Primary nor Secondary Admin can Request for Access from the Primary Admin.
Issue fixFixed issue where Processed Payment Receipt wasn't aligned after processing transaction.

Compliance requirements for cards stored in company file
    Merchants will be required to confirm that they have written authorisation from their customers when saving the credit card information. Stored credential compliance is mandated by card networks like Visa, MasterCard and Discover to improve authorisation and the overall customer experience.
User Management
  • When creating a new company file, the Admin must create or add an Intuit account to the file within 28 days and should no longer receive persistent messaging to do so.
  • Having an Intuit Account attached to the company file makes it easier to connect and maintain product features and services.
  • The company file admin will now be able to Invite other employees to create an Intuit account.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where Washington DC Paid Family Leave could not be removed for some employees.
  • Fixed issue loading Federal 941 form when there were no payroll payments.
  • Fixed certificate issue that was preventing Business Planner from loading.
  • Fixed issue with Invoices for All Customers report where toggling Sort By or selecting Print Report resulted in numbers in "Ageing" column changing.
  • Fixed an issue where PO number field entered against an invoice appears blank when viewing or exporting transactions on a report from the Customer Centre.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing ability to toggle from one edition to another.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in repeated requests to log into Intuit Account after having successfully done so.

  • License based password reset replaces the challenge based password reset process.

Making Tax Digital (MTD)
  • This is a key part of the government's plans to make it easier for businesses and individuals to get their tax right and stay on top of their affairs. The scope includes:
    • Sign up to report VAT through software OR sign up a client to report VAT through software
    • View future obligations and previous returns in BTA
    • Retrieve obligations and submit return
UK Payroll Welsh & Post Graduate Student Loan
  • QuickBooks Desktop Payroll will support collections of Postgraduate Student Loan from the tax year starting from April 5, 2019 for employees who have borrowed funding for postgraduate studies such as Master's and Ph.D. This collection is independent of the pre-existing collection of student loans and can be deducted simultaneously via payroll where applicable.
UK Payroll - Year on Year Compliance Changes
  • QuickBooks Desktop Payroll will support Welsh Income Tax Rates from tax year starting from April 6, 2019. Welsh taxpayers employed or in receipt of a taxable pension will have the letter 'C' (Cymru) as a prefix to their tax code.
IFF Duplicate Data Lines
  • If you have an IIF import file that have duplicate data lines, the file will now import successfully EXCEPT for the duplicate data lines.
IIF Import for items with hidden parents
  • Accounts, customers, class and stock items with hidden parents will now import successfully.
IIF Import Bug Fixes
  • Bug fixes include:
    • Invoices that have both invoice and credit lines now import successfully
    • Deposit transactions with 2 decimal points will now import
    • Issues with importing employee names has been resolved
    • Format for time in decimal and hours only is now supported
    • Field for Doc Reference number for payments and bills has been extended from 11 to 20 characters

Accountant's Copy File Transfer
  • We've made improvements to the ACFT experience for better collaboration with accountants.
IIF
  • Enhanced IIF import and fixes to common bugs and known issues:
    • Accept decimal and standard time format in the Timer activity record
    • IIF import for employee names
    • IIF invoice to allow negative quantity in the same invoice
    • Fixed the spelling to ENDTNS

  • SDK enhancements
  • Troubleshoot and fix errors related to saving forms as pdf or printing them
Accounts Receivable
  • Fixed an issue causing an invoice form to freeze for users with Microsoft Outlook (all versions) installed.
Bank Feeds
  • Improved messaging & fixes for common error scenarios in Bank Feeds.
Forms/Invoicing
  • Fixed an issue with transfer credit not getting applied
Stock
  • Stock reports are now using the correct term ("Stock" instead of "Stock")
Invoice Status Tracker
  • Support for QuickBooks Email
  • Messaging for Outlook 2010 customers to outline unavailability of Viewed Status due to technical limitations of this Outlook version
  • Fixes for known bugs and stability improvements
Print PDF
  • Users will now have a troubleshoot button to fix errors when saving forms as PDF or printing them.
Right Networks
  • Fixed! Issue with QB crash in RightNetworks when setting region and Language
User Interface
  • Improved error messages with clear instructions if action is required.
