I'm here to help fix your custom fields issue on invoices so you can keep track of extra details about your transactions, cookandson.
Since you've already saved the invoice, one possible reason you're unable to retrieve the information on the custom fields is that your browser has accumulated too many cached files. QuickBooks uses the browser's cache to run faster. Thus, you'll have to clear or remove outdated ones to prevent potential viewing and performance issues with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Start troubleshooting by pulling up your account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:
Once signed in, go to the Sales menu's Invoices tab to view or edit your invoice.
If you're able to see and recover all the data you need on your invoice, return to your default browser and clear its cache. After that, restart your browser and log back into your QBO account to refresh the system.
However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend clicking the browser's Refresh icon (please see the screenshot below) or using other supported browsers.
On the other hand, to include the custom fields when printing invoices, ensure to turn on the Print on form option. Go to the Custom fields menu and edit the custom field.
Moreover, once your customers pay your invoices, record those payments to balance your income accounts. For the step-by-step guide on how to do this, you can check out this article: Receive invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
