I have looked into this for you and found out that if you remove the date column on the invoice template, click save and then go into the invoice and use that template, without previewing it again, the date will not show (please make sure the date column has not been used on the invoice itself). The issue appears to be happening when you are turning off the date and then going straight back into the template editor. If you edit the template and then use it on an invoice, this should resolve the issue.

When I make a change to either the default or custom invoice template, all other invoice templates change. Therefore, I am not able to create any different templates as QBO advertises.

Can you please confirm what you are changing on the invoice template that is not saving? And provide some screenshots if possible.
I would also recommend to try the above work around of saving the changes on the template and rather than going back into the template go into the invoice and then click 'print or preview' at the bottom of the screen.

My organization wishes to have different invoice templates set up for different projects within the company. However, when I make a change to the logo or the message or any other field in the invoice template, both the custom template and the default template change.
I tried the workaround recommended and what I find is that every single invoice template is changed. Other users in this chain have reported the same issue, so it appears that QBO has a bug and does not allow users to create multiple invoice templates.
It is also not useful that the email template cannot be customized because it means that users have to separately email invoices instead of emailing them from QBO.

Thank you for getting back in touch.
At the moment you are only able to have one logo per company which is why the logo will change on all templates. The message to customers will also change all invoice templates as this is the generic message on invoices. If you wish to change the message on each template please use the box namedf 'Add payment details and footer' on the bottom section of the invoice.
The issues experienced above are in regards to the date column, rather than the logo or messages.

What fields can be customized in the invoice template? What I'd like to do is customize the message, the email, and other information so that I can thank a company sponsoring a specific project differently from invoices for a different project. It doesn't sound like the templates can be customized in this fashion.

I'm here to help share some information about the fields you can customize on an invoice template.
To determine the fields available for customization, you can edit the template through the Custom form styles section. If you have different information for a specific project, you can create a separate template for the invoice.
Here's how to edit/create a new template:
1. Click the Gear icon.
2. Below Your Company, select Custom Form Styles.
3. Click New style or Edit.
4. If you selected Edit, you can go through the tabs to view the fields you can edit.
5. If you selected New style, choose Invoice.

You can also edit the default email message sent with sales forms through the Account and Settings section.
1. Click the Gear icon.
2. Select Account and Settings.
3. Go to Sales.
4. Under Messages, configure the content.

I'm constantly having the same problem. Especially with dates. I can change a date, save it, view the pdf on screen which shows the correct amended date but when I email it the date reverts to the original. I've had enough of Quickbooks and am seeking an alternative option. Probably going back to a traditional human accountant!

Well, I cancelled my subscription a few weeks back and reinstated it yesterday and it's still not working right.
Please see images of screenshots of an invoice with the correct date at saving and at send stage. All OK with 31.5.19. Then see a screenshot of pdf that arrives just a few minutes later which has defaulted to today's date. When I go back into the invoice once I've emailed it the date of the screen has changed to the 30th.
Please sort this out it's having a real adverse effect on me. I'm a sole trader and don't have time for this and it also pisses off my clients when they get an invoice with the wrong date on it!!
Thanks for providing those screenshots. I have recreated your invoice in my QBSE account and am unable to replicate the error - to check that this is not caused by a cache issue please try clearing the cashe of the browser you are using following the guide here. After this, close down the browser completely and re-open and sign back into QuickBooks. Then, delete the original invoice and recreate; you can change the email address to your own when sending if you do not want your customer to receive this again. Let me know if this now saves and sends with the correct date!
