Credit card transactions coming off my bank balance

Hi, Clare. Let's review your credit card transactions to ensure it's treated correctly.

To verify, are these transactions imported into QuickBooks Online (QBO)? If so, make sure to select the corresponding credit card account (not a bank account) when you upload the file into QuickBooks. Also, learn how to check the format of your CSV file before uploading.

If your transactions are downloaded from your credit card account that is connected to QBO, make sure that the account type is Credit Card, not bank. This will prevent the amounts from being deducted from your bank account balance.

To check, go to the Gear icon and then select Chart of accounts. Find the account and click the dropdown button beside View register. Tap Edit and from the Account Type drop-down, choose Credit Card.

Once everything's fine, you can then categorise and match your transactions with existing records in QuickBooks.

We're always here to help you again if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions about importing credit card transactions into QuickBooks. Have a pleasant day ahead!
