Having trouble with P&L, I have a 'Services account' full of my invoice products and services that aren't translating down to their relevant income/expense account?

I've posted everything to the right account within the 'Products and Services' sections but my P&L still have an income account 'Services' holding it all.

Hello ethan-brown14-ou

Thanks for joining the Community.

Were the income and expense accounts on the product and services updated after entering the invoices? You can view the current accounts by navigating to the Cog > Products and Services > Edit > See Income account and Expense accounts fields.

If you need to, you can also merge accounts, so that the services account (and all transactions within this) post under the relevant account (note: this will only work if merging with one other income or expense account). To see how to do this, click here

Thank you for the feedback, referring to the cog and being able to see all the 'Income Accounts' for my 'Products and Services' instantly is really helpful. Unfortunately I'm having further trouble, I've assigned the appropriate account for the 'Products and Services' to go to but still in the p&l they are transferring to a 'Services' account.

Even stranger, I've just taken a deeper dive and and small handful of 'Products and Services' are being assigned correctly but many/most aren't and defaulting to this 'Services' account.

Let's get you directed to the right channel that can properly address your concern, ethan.

We'll have to look into your transactions to figure out why they're in the services account. I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team for more assistance.

One of our experts will conduct a screen-sharing session and review the entries from there. When the issue has been identified, they'll assist you in implementing the real-time solution.

Here's how to obtain the support information:

  1. Go to the Help icon at the top to display the Search window.
  2. From there, click the Contact Us link to access the What can we help you with? section and then enter a brief description of your concern in the field box.
  3. Tap the Continue button to see the list of support options.
  4. Pick Chat to start a conversation or Callback to speak with an agent.

I've included some resources that will guide you on how to build financial reports and configure the report preferences:

If you wish to highlight specific areas of your business inside the report, you can also utilize the customize function.

Drop a comment below if you have other concerns about the product or additional questions regarding your Profit and Loss report. I'd be delighted to respond to them.
