How to record gift card sales

Hello, 

I’m new to quick books and I’m using the self employed version. 

I have currently sold £60 worth of gift cards and was wondering if someone could explain a step by step process on how to correctly record this. I have seen other answers to this but I don’t have the options on my dashboard - not sure if I’m using a different version to others.

How to record gift card sales

Hi there, Kieron.

 

I'd be glad to share with you the steps on how you can add the transaction in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Transactions menu and click Add transaction
  2. Enter the date that you sold the gift cards, then add a description as well. 
  3. Add the amount in the Amount column and select Business under Type.
  4. Click Select a category and select Income or the correct category. 
  5. Click Save

After that, you can run your Profit and Loss report to review the amounts of income that you recorded. Just go to the Reports menu, look for Profit and Loss, and then click the View link beside it.
