I run a car valeting/detailing business and I’m wondering how to put through the products I buy for jobs etc? Do I put it on expenses “sundry” category or? Thanks

I'll share some information about recording the products you bought for a job. When you add the product, you're asked to choose two accounts (Income and Expense). About the expense category, it depends on where you keep track of your expenses. Let's go to your product/service information page to see it.

 

  1. Hover towards the Gear icon.
  2. Select Products and services under Lists.
  3. Edit the product you want to change the category.
  4. Choose your selected Category from the drop-down.
  5. Pick your Income and Expense account, and fill in the other fields.
  6. Click Save and close.  See the image below.

 

 

 

Additionally, you can consult with your accountant to make sure you're recording your expenses accordingly. For more information about categories, check out these articles below.
