Mileage or Fuel Cost

I am new to Quickbooks and are looking for some help. I am a self employed gardener and use my van solely for work, i am not sure if i should put fuel receipts in as a 'Travel Expense' or should i use the mileage tracker. Thanks in advance and sorry if it sounds a bit basic. Dave

Mileage or Fuel Cost

Hello, @DaveYork1.

I appreciate you for choosing QuickBooks as your partner in business and also for posting here in the Community.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can either record your fuel consumption as an expense or use the mileage tracker.

If you want to record it as an expense, here’s how:

  1. Select the Transactions menu. On the upper right corner, click the Add transaction.
  2. Enter the Date, Description, and the Amount of the transaction.
  3.  Select a category of the transaction and add Notes.
  4. Once completed, click Save.

You can use this article to know the steps if you want to use a mileage tracker in QuickBooks Self-Employed: Track mileage.

Also, I’m adding video tutorials about to help you know more about QuickBooks Self-Employed: Video Tutorials

Let me know if you need more help with recording the fuel expense. I'll be around for you.
