Receipt Forwarding feature does not recognise PDF files

Whenever I use the Receipt Forwarding feature, I get a response back with the subject line "We couldn't read your expense receipt(s)". The message shows the PDF filename (including its .pdf suffix) plus with the reason "We didn't recognize the format of your attachment. Recommendation: Try attaching the correct images/documents and try again".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can teach Quickbooks to recognise a PDF file?

Re: Receipt Forwarding feature does not recognise PDF files

Hello there, Alistair,

Thank you for providing the error details you received. PDF is one of the supported file types.

Let's check if you have these details:

  • Vendors
  • Date
  • Total
  • Credit/Debit card number (optional)

Check this article for more information: Receipt forwarding feature.

I also recommend contacting our QB Self-Employed support. We can pull up your account to check what is causing the error. There might be a need to reset the receipt forwarding feature on your account.

Here's how:

  1. Click Assistant at the upper-right corner.
  2. Type Talk to a human.
  3. Select Chat with an agent or Get email support.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if there's anything else I can be of help.

Your instructions don't work. I clicked on the Help icon and then... there is no "Contact Us" link.
