The app has updated and we’ve lost all of our expenses categories.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, Halli. Let me ensure that you're able to access your expense categories.

Let's perform basic troubleshooting on your account to determine what causes this issue. Follow the steps below to do it on different mobile operating systems:

Android:

  1. Go to Menu ☰ then tap More Options ⋮.
  2. Select Settings, then Refresh Data.
  3. Tap Yes.

iOS:

  1. Go to the Menu ☰ icon, then select Help & Feedback.
  2. Tap Refresh Data.
  3. Select Refresh.

You can also do it in your device settings. Here's how:

Android:

  1. Go to the Settings menu.
  2. Select Apps (varies by device), then choose QuickBooks app from the list Storage.
  3. Select Clear data.

iOS:

  1. From your device's Settings, select Setting General iPhone Storage.
  2. Choose an app that's taking up a lot of space.
  3. Click the Offload App.

If the issue remains, I recommend contacting our support team to have your account checked. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. In QB Assistant, enter the topic you need help with. You can also enter questions.
  4. In Search, select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert. Live chat all day, M-F.
    • Ask the community to get help from businesses like yours.
    • Call us. M-F, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and S-S, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

I'll include this helpful resource that contains detailed information on managing your expenses: Enter and manage expenses in QuickBooks Online.

If you plan to review your accounts in QuickBooks and make sure they match your bank and credit card statements refer to this article for reference: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
