Anyone know how to change date on VAT Return? Showing as 28th rather than 29th Feb?

Hi there, matthew-till.

Currently, the option to customize the VAT Return’s date is unavailable. You can customize it by pulling up a report. Here’s how to customise a VAT report by date:

  1. Go to the Hamburger icon and select the Taxes tab.
  2. Click the View Reports button and choose a report to pull up.
  3. In the VAT report’s page, click the Customise button.
  4. Under the Report period to Custom, then enter the dates.
  5. Verify the details and hit Run report.

As of now, I am going to send your post as feedback to our Product Developers. They will be the ones to assess it for future updates.

For more information, you can check this article: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Also, I can see that this article can be handy in the future: Tips for year-end reconciliation.

Please click the Reply button if you have questions in mind. I’m here to help. Take care.

Ok. So will 29th Feb be picked up in my March VAT return? I'm concerned this day won't be reported correctly

Hi there, matthew-till.

When our VAT return's Accounting period is set to Monthly, the date range is from the first day to the last day of the month. We also have the option to change the report period on what dates we'll want to include in the return.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu and select VAT
  2. From the Returns tab, look for the February return and click Prepare return
  3. Above the VAT Return, select the date range

I also have a few references here that we can look into on how to report your VAT returns:

Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
