Can not submit vat return to hmrc, it is digitally enabled

Hi there, jpep. I see how this caused you inconvenience when submitting a VAT return in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to help you authorise your MTD account from QBO.

Before that, I'd like to know the error message you received when processing a VAT return. Any additional information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

After connecting your QuickBooks to HMRC, it's important to reauthorise the connection every 18 months. This ensures you've met HMRC's security requirements and kept your data safe.

To reauthorise your MTD account in QBO, you'll need to disconnect from MTD in QBO.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Click the Advanced tab and tick the pencil icon on the Making Tax Digital section to edit.
  3. Select Learn how to disconnect.
  4. Click Disconnect to confirm. Then, select Continue to return to QBO.

After disconnecting, you can proceed to authorise QBO to interact with HMRC.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes, then select Set up MTD.
  2. Select Authorise now. Then, click Continue.
  3. Sign in with your MTD Government Gateway user ID and password on the pop-up window.
  4. Select Continue. Then, click Give permission
  5. Once connected, click Continue and then select Go to Taxes.

Once enabled, you'll see the verification on the top left corner of the tax page.

I've added a screenshot for your visual reference.

Furthermore, refer to this article to learn how to adjust your VAT liabilities in QBO: Make VAT adjustments in QBO.

Feel free to comment on this post if you are still concerned about VAT returns in QBO. I'm here to help in any way I can.
