Let's remove this take action prompt from your account, mabberley.

Usually, this prompt "Take action" will show when you still have an open return. Did you file it inside QuickBooks or outside?

After successfully filing the VAT, did you mark your VAT Return as filed in QuickBooks? This should be done after submitting the VAT return.

If you file it outside, you can easily mark your VAT as filed and close the period.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Taxes from the left menu and tap VAT at the top of the screen.
  2. Click on Prepare return to view your open return.
  3. Tap the Submit to HMRC drop-down to Mark as filed.
  4. Hit on Continue on the pop-up menu that appears.

However, if you submitted the VAT return through QuickBooks, then you’ll need to seek assistance from one of our support to mark it as filed.

You can get their phone number by going to this article: Making Tax Digital (MTD) - everything you need to know. Then, scroll down to the bottom and go to Speak to us.

They have the tools to further check what causes this error not to automatically mark it as filed.
