Vat

Hi I'm struggling to change vat from 20% to 5% before adding bank transactions for the same payee. The job in question is eligible for 5% and I can't change it without changing every other payment that is 20%!

Vat

I've got some valuable insights to share with you about managing VAT rates on your transactions, @Craig 84. By selecting a specific payee, you can make adjustments to individual transactions without impacting others, which streamlines your accounting processes significantly. Let's dive deeper into the details.

I noticed the concern you posted indicates both QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) and QuickBooks Online (QBO) products. To address your concerns, I'd like to discuss how VAT management functions differently within these two platforms.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) does not have a VAT feature integrated within the platform. However, QuickBooks Online (QBO) does have VAT management features. In QBO, you can tick the box of the specific payee. This way, you can change your transactions without changing every other payment.

To manage VAT rates in QBO, you can easily select a specific payee and adjust their VAT settings by following these steps:

  1. On the left navigational panel, look for the Transactions tab.

  2. Select Bank transactions.

  3. Choose the specific payee by ticking the box.
    Capture.xxx.PNG
  4. Hit Edit next to the tax rate you want to make changes to.
  5. Make the necessary changes and select Save.

This feature can be a game-changer for managing various VAT rates efficiently across different jobs and clients.

If you are only currently using QBSE and VAT management is increasingly critical in your operations, it can be worthwhile to consider switching to QBO. QBO offers not only enhanced VAT capabilities but also a variety of other features that might be beneficial for your business management.

Additionally, to further assist you in navigating the complexities of VAT management and perhaps exploring the features of both QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), I'd love to share a curated selection of articles. These resources aim to deepen your knowledge of both platforms, focusing on their distinct features and how they cater to different business needs:

It has truly been a pleasure to guide you through the features and functionalities of QuickBooks that can significantly enhance your business finance management, @Craig 84. Please remember that we're here to support you in any capacity as you continue to grow and manage your business efficiently.
