Reverse Charge

I've made a software purchase and the invoice says I must reverse charge. I'm in the UK, the seller is in Ireland.

Would I use 20% RC SG as the VAT code?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Reverse Charge

Hey Norwichdesigner,

Welcome back to the community - how are you finding getting along with QuickBooks?

I'm not in any position to tell you with any authority, however i can direct you to a breakdown of where these codes would commonly be used, and what boxes they post to. https://community.intuit.com/articles/1763803-common-vat-codes

Do you know if you need to include the amount as part of your EU Sales, or do you just have to count it towards UK? HMRC will be able to tell you which boxes you need this purchase to hit, which will indicate whether to use the RC SG code, or to use the EC Equivalent of the RC. See the link above for full breakdown of what the codes do.

I've attempted to do some research on your behalf but my findings were inconclusive, HMRC are the authority and they're the best people to answer for this transaction. We can then direct you to the right code, with the knowing which boxes to impact.

Thanks,
