Submitting VAT returns on Quickbooks online from the 8th of April 2021?

Hello,

Please can you confirm that a VAT return (client not MTD registered) on Quickbooks online after the 8th of April will be able to be submitted as normal with no issues due to the XML being discontinued by HMRC?

Apologise if this has been asked before

Many thanks

Thanks for getting back to us Victorstewartaccountants,

HMRC are discontinuing the XML portal after the 8th of April, meaning the only way to submit a return in QuickBooks will be via MTD.

Your client can still create returns and mark these as filed within QuickBooks, however would need to find an alternate way to submit the figures directly to HMRC if they opt not to register for MTD at this point.

Hello Victor, Has the client been advised they have to file via MTD from now on or are they exempt?
