We can troubleshoot your browser to isolate issues that take your filing month to a prior year of trading, besqb1967. I'll provide the detailed process, ensuring you're all set up to prepare VAT returns and payments with QuickBooks.

When setting up VAT in QuickBooks Online, you have the option to select the Flat Rate Scheme (FRS). In this section, you can enter a percentage and tax registration date, which can be updated directly in the VAT settings. However, note that this date will not affect your filling period displayed on the VAT window.

Since the filing month was taken as April 2024 in the VAT window, which should be in the current year, you'll want to access your account using a private browser. This process helps us isolate issues related to corrupted cache files, which cause unexpected behaviors and affect the data displayed in QuickBooks.

You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

Once it works, clear the cache from your regular browser to refresh the websites' preferences. Please also use a supported and up-to-date browser to maximise your navigating experience.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our live support team. They can further assist you in deleting and updating your filing month with the help of the right tools and expertise.

When it's time to prepare VAT returns and record payments, utilise this material for guidance to file them electronically with QuickBooks: Submit a VAT return to HMRC using MTD (Making Tax Digital) in QuickBooks.
