add/edit multiple items *overflow*

I have created a new company data file and am in the process of adding my inventory. i am copying my item list from excel and pasting into the "add/edit multiple items and keep getting *overflow* in my cost & price column. How do I fix this? i have tried just copying a few lines  or copying the column no luck. I do not have time to manually enter the cost and price for 6000 items

I can help you fix the overflow issue in importing multiple lists, tanyaor.

Here are the possible reasons why you're seeing *overflow* in your cost and price columns instead of any amount:

  • The format you are copying from an Excel spreadsheet does not match a format that is accepted by QuickBooks.
  • The value is too large for the number of items.
  • Damaged transactions in your company data file.

Before we start, let's ensure that your computer meets the system requirements. We can rebuild your data to fix these kinds of issues. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu and choose Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data.
  3. Click OK and backup your company file. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. Once done, click OK.

Try importing your lists again. If you get the same thing you can use the second solution on this page: Overflow in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have other questions. Take care and have a good one!

It was the format... forgot I had switched format in excel to calculate markup. Once I changed the format on the excel sheet it worked. Thanks
