If I select "Add new" from the account drop down bar from within a invoice would it take me directly to choose an account type located in the chart of accounts? I'm unable to perform this action as I was not granted full administration rights in QuickBooks.

Restricted rights would definitely prevent you from adding an item or account. You have 2 choices, ask your Admin to do it, or ask your Admin to adjust your privs

And yes, you got it right. If you select Add new from the account drop-down menu in the invoice window, it'll route you to the Chart of Accounts window. In addition to john-pero, you'll want to have the approval of your Admin to be able to perform this.

Additionally, you'll want to consult with your accountant for guidance in choosing the right account. This way, we'll ensure the records of your book are accurate.
