Apply class to line items created from Connect to Paypal

Hello,

We are a non-profit that uses Quickbooks Online. We currently use Connect to Paypal to load transactions from Paypal into QB. We would like to classify line items in the sales receipts using the "class" feature automatically; however, we currently can't. Here is what we have set up:

1. We have matching set up, so QB automatically shows the correct "Product/Service" for each line item in a sales receipt (i.e. it does not show the default, "Paypal Sales" for any line items)

2. We have classes set up for all of our products and services in "Product/Service Information"

3. We have "Track Classes" turned on and "One to each row in transaction" selected

However, line items in the sales receipts do not have classes.

We have too many transactions to assign each line item manually. Since we need to assign class by line item, not transaction (and different line items in the same transaction may belong in different classes), I believe that banking rules will not work.

How do we make it so that classes are assigned automatically when the product/service is assigned for a line item?

Apply class to line items created from Connect to Paypal

Let's get this sorted out, onlineuser1.

You're on the right track in setting up the classes for your products and services. With that, you should be able to see a Class column in your Sales Receipt transaction automatically when entering a product on the line items.

I'll show you a sample screenshot of how it should look like:

If you're still not seeing the classes on your sales receipt, we can try performing some browser troubleshooting to isolate this case.

Let's start by accessing a private browser (incognito). Using a private window helps us verify a browser cache issue since this doesn’t store any cache files. You can provide them with these keyboard shortcuts:

Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

If it works, you may want to clear the browsing history of your regular web browser. This will remove previously-stored browsing data that might have caused the issue. Otherwise, you can try using other supported browsers to be thorough.

You'll want to review the transactions you entered by running the Sales by Class Detail report.

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter the Sales by Class Detail in the search field.
  3. Customize the filter if necessary.
  4. Click Run report.

Drop me a reply below if there's anything else that I can help you with managing classes, please let me know in the comment section down below. Have a nice day.
