Budget - Account Numbers Not Showing. Yes it is and has been turned on in settings. If I run the Budget Overview Report, the account numbers show, but when editing the Budget, or when I am creating, no account numbers.

Glad to see you here in the Community, aduncan.

I’ll be glad to provide details on why account numbers are not showing when running the Budget Report.

To make sure I'm on the same page, are you referring to the sub-account numbers? If so, these numbers will not show when creating or editing the budget. Only the parent account number will show up in the actual budget.

If you want to see the account sub-account numbers, you'll need to open the Budget Report or go to the Chart of Accounts. To give you more insights about the Budget feature, check out this article: How to create budgets and how does budgeting work?

If there's anything else that I can help you with, leave a comment below. I'll be glad to lend a helping hand. Have a good one.

I do have many years experience creating budgets, however,I have never worked with a software that wouldn't show the account numbers. You referred to them as sub-accounts which is correct however, who ever creates a budget by just entering dollars into a "Master Account"? The "Sub-Accounts" are what make up the detail for the budget...

I know I can run the overview report of the budget and see all the account numbers but I need to see the account numbers while I am entering or editing the information in the budget.

Welcome to the Intuit Community, aduncan.

I appreciate you for reaching out to us. I want to share some information about the account numbers available when creating a budget.

Right now, sub-account numbers are only visible when viewing a Budget report in QuickBooks Online. With regards to having this option, I believe the more added flexibility the product has, the more it will appeal to the wider audience.

I've added this request to our own internal product enhancement list, which we send directly to our product development team.  Our updates are based on the suggestions we and the engineers receive from our customers, so the more suggestions the better it is to improve our products.

I also encourage you to send feedback by clicking the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and selecting the Feedback option.

Feel free to response if you need any assistance with your QuickBooks product. I'll be around to help.

I 100% agree with aduncan on this. Being able to see the subaccount numbers is important when creating the budget. Not being able to see them makes creating the budget more difficult as I copy it from our Excel file, which was created using subaccount numbers. Please consider adding this feature.
