Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

Hey there, @kr1430.

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community. I'm here to share some information about having multiple company files to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription.

QBO only allows one Company per subscription. For a second (or additional) Company, you will need to sign up for a new QBO account. This means each Company you'll create will have its own subscription. But if you already have an existing account, you can use the same login credentials when signing up and switching between Companies.

Here's how:

1. Go to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/online/.
2. Choose a version of QuickBooks.
3. On the signup page, select Sign in.
4. Enter your login information and follow the on-screen prompts to set up the second company.
5. And then to log-in to your account: http://qbo.intuit.com. You will have the option to select your companies.

Once signed in, you can go ahead and click the Gear icon at the top to Switch Company. For more information, you can refer to these articles:

That's it! Feel free to comment below if you need additional information or if I can be of further assistance. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week.

Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

I've been using QB desktop version where I could create and maintain multiple companies. They all are small with not that many transactions per month but they are different, independent legally entities.

Paying full monthly subscription fee for every of 14 companies doesn't make any economic sense to me.

Are there any discounts or "package price" that you would advise?

Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

Greetings, kr1430.

Thanks for being a loyal QuickBooks customer. Helping out with managing your subscription is my priority.

Your current subscription rate is dependent upon its price and any discounts offered at the time of sign up. Since we're unable to gather personal data in the Community for security reasons, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team.

They can review your billing information and discuss in details your subscription fee. You can reach them through the following link: Get help with QuickBooks Online.

To see the latest news and updates about the product, feel free to visit the QuickBooks Blog.

Be sure to let me know if you have concerns while working in QBO. Please know that I'm here to lend a helping hand. Have a good one.

If you've 14 companies with just fewer transactions, I'd suggest staying with the desktop, not migrating to QBO. There is no such thing as "package price" for multiple companies in QBO that I've heard of. Even if they offer an initial 3-month discount, you will still eventually end up paying the same listed full price in the long run. Hope this helps!

Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

There is a wholesale pricing structure available through your QBOA currently to offer 1 QBO Plus at full wholesale price (currently $30/month) and add up to 14 additional companies at $5/month each.

Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

As @FritzF has mentioned, you cannot have multiple companies under one subscription in QuickBooks Online, however, you can achieve this by switching to QuickBooks Desktop.

I applaud the push toward desktop but let's clear up the semantics.

You most certainly can have as many online companies as your budget allows. Each has it's own subscription but , if you wish, they can all be attached to one single Intuit account. You do not have to, you can have a separate login for each but no reason to. In fact it would be the same login you used to post here.

Now the alternative that is always pointed out by my esteemed colleague malcolm if all the companies are DBA using same identical tax ID you can use Plus or Advanced with Class Tracking and track each DBA as a separate class

Yes, you can have multiple companies under one subscription, however, this functionality is only with the Desktop Version and with QuickBooks Online.

Desktop Version does not have to be a subscription (in US)

And you cannot have multiple Online companies under one subscription - each company is its own subscription. You can unite all the subscriptions under a single login but it is not the same.

And now with 17% price increase each QBO Plus subscription will be $70. Per month. Having 3 companies would be like buying a brand new desktop software each and every month

Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

This is possible with the correct " work around " . IF your subscription allows for multiple locations.

To do this, enable location tracking.Create the new business and then rename the location to business. You will have to create custom invoices for the new business .

Hope that helps

Multiple company add-on sold through intuit or do we have to purchase from 3rd party re-seller?

Re: Can I have multiple companies under one subscription?

I appreciate you joining in the thread, @tomtelesco.

As mentioned in this thread, multiple companies will each have their subscription set up in QuickBooks Online.

You can consider vpcontroller's suggestion about QuickBooks Desktop or the wholesale pricing structure available through QBOA.

@tomtelesco

There is no multi-company add-on. Purchase and open a new account with any available dicounted plan
