I can provide some information about exporting data from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
You'll need to ensure that you have an active QuickBooks Desktop version so you can export the information successfully. Since your QuickBooks Desktop trial expired, you may need to use another version of QuickBooks trial to activate your account and export the data.
You can also check out this link about how to import your data to QBO to ensure that your company data moves successfully.
I'm always a post away if you have any other questions or concerns. Have a wonderful day!
My desktop version is 2013 I think. My computer screen cracked has to upgrade it and finally decided to upgrade my QuickBooks too. Loaded the trial of desktop
and imported my data but then my trial expired and I can’t access it. Also after speaking to a rep
opted for online QuickBooks but now can’t import my data
Thanks for joining in this conversation, @Lissa913. I appreciate you for providing your desktop version.
Since your trial has already expired, we offer a trial version to help you.
You'll have full access to all the features for 30 days. Please know that when you convert, the QBDT 2013 file will be converted or upgraded to a newer version.
After installing the software, restore the backup file by following these steps:
Please note the Save as type field will automatically populate QuickBooks Files (*.QBW).
Once done, you can now move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. It has a step-by-step guide and a quick video tutorial to help you visualize when converting your file to QBO.
Let me know if you additional questions. I'll be around to help. Stay safe.
You were on the right track but need another computer to intsall the trial license and migrate to QB Online. Make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 6 months. If you purchase from the trial account, you have to pay the regular price.
As for the last resort, consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service.

You need to look for a closer version of QuickBooks and restore the company file from there as suggested by katherinejoyceO above. At this time, you can no longer access the expired trial version of your QuickBooks Desktop 2013.
If you need further assistance with the process, you can always reach out to our Support Team. They have extra tools like the screen-sharing session and will be able to guide you in importing your data more closely. To contact support:

The trial version my data is in is the most recent version (2020) I had imported into QB desktop 2020, planning on purchasing it or the new online version. It expired before I had a chance to purchase so Im locked out of my most updated data. I do have the original backup from QB 2013 on a backup drive. I was chatting with a rep about purchasing the full version of desktop and he talked me in to the online version instead, telling me my most updated data would be inaccessible and I would have to use the old backup, but I cant find a way to import a backup that isn't updated into the online version. Is there a way to access the 2020 desktop trial version that expired? or do I have to delete that trial version, load a new trial version and import my data into that to update it? Will I be able to load a new trial version if Ive previously had one?
Hello there, @Lissa913.
You can uninstall the trial version that you have now, then run the Clean Install Tool from the QuickBooks Tool Hub to install a new trial version of 2020. Once completed, then you'll be able to open the previous trial file. Now that you have all the data that you need, you can transfer the file from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. Here's a Community Article that guides you through the process of transferring your data: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
