Can I limit a user only to data entry in Essential online?

Yes, you can, @Linda56.

Allow me to share some information about user types and access in QuickBooks Online.

The Standard user can work with customers, sales, vendors, and expenses. They can also enter timesheets, add users, update company info, and even manage subscriptions.

The good thing, you can choose the Limited option so they can only access vendor and customer-related transactions in the system. Let me show you how:


  1. Go to the Gear icon, then click Manage users.
  2. Press Add user.
  3. Choose Standard user, then hit Next.
  4. Select the Limited option and then mark the tick boxes in the Customer and Vendors.
  5. Hit Next, then select the User settings.
  6. Enter their information, then Save.
