Can I move quickbooks files from a USB (PC) to my quickbooks Mac desktop version? I need to move files over from an old PC that didn't run from a desktop version (CD).

It's my pleasure to help you today, cbeiter.

I believe you already have the copy of your company's .qbb file on your USB drive. If not, you can follow the steps below on how to prepare the file for conversion.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks for Windows, open the company file you want to convert.
  2. Choose File.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac. Follow the onscreen instructions. QuickBooks creates a MAC.qbb (backup) file.
  5. Copy the .qbb file to a CD or USB drive or some other media.

Once done, you're now ready to move the files to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. I'd be happy to walk you through the steps below:

  1. Copy the .qbb file to your Documents folder.
  2. In QuickBooks for Mac, choose File.
  3. Open Company, select the MAC.qbb file.
  4. Then click Open.
  5. Click OK when asked if you want to restore a QuickBooks for Windows file.
  6. Enter a name for the restored file, and then click Save.

To give you a complete overview of the whole process of moving your files to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, here's an article for your guide: Opening your QuickBooks for Windows file in QuickBooks for Mac. This also contains the list of data that can and cannot be imported to the Mac version.

If there's anything else that you need help with, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to assist you further. Take care and have a great day a head.
