Can I open 2 companies at the same time, with the same sign on?

They just released this feature last week using the QBO desktop app. Using a browser, you'd have to use different browsers or with Chrome create different "people"

I would like to have both companies open without having to open previous company - sign in - and then the other one closes.

As stated by 4Gal above, yes, opening two companies at once is possible, even if you're using the same login credentials.

You'll need the first company using your regular browser and the second one using an incognito or private browser. You may refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Safari: Command + Shift + N

Additionally, ensure you're using supported web browsers when accessing QuickBooks Online.

Aside from using an incognito window or private browser, you can also use two different browsers like Chrome and Microsoft Edge to access two different QuickBooks Online companies at the same time. This can help you manage your accounts and tasks more efficiently. 

The following browsers are supported on both web and mobile devices:

• Google Chrome: version 78 or newer
• Mozilla Firefox: version 76 or newer. Note: To preview and print forms on Mac OS, you'll also need the Firefox PDF plugin.
• Microsoft Edge: version 79 or newer
• Safari: version 12 or newer (Mac only)
• Opera: version 68 or newer
• Samsung: version 10 or newer
