Can I share a custom report with the client?

My client has created several custom reports.  Rather than re-create the wheel, I'd like him to share them with me and vice versa.

Can I share a custom report with the client?

I'm glad you've reached out to us. I'm here to help and guide you on how to share your customize reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO). 

 

Good news! QBO has the feature to share your customized reports. To do this, let me walk you through the steps: 

  1. Click on the Reports tab on the left.
  2. Choose Custom Reports
  3. Open the specific customised report and click the Save customization button.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow in the Share with field.
  5. Select the specific users you'd like to share it with.
  6. Click Save once you're done.

You can always check the Custom Reports window to view the customized reports created by your client. 

 

If you're using QuickBooks Online Accountant version, you can check this article for the detailed steps on how to share report templates between QuickBooks Online client companies

 

If you need further assistance with the steps, I recommend calling our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They have additional tools to pull up your account and do a viewing session. 

 

Here's how to contact our support: 

  1. Click this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/Get-help-with-QuickBooks-Online/m-p/185932
  2. Select Contact us
  3. Select US version of QuickBooks Online.
  4. On the Search for some else tab, type-in Customer Support
  5. Click the Get Phone Number below.

Can I share a custom report with the client?

Is there any way to do this on QuickBooks Desktop?

 

My accountant has shared the custom reports as an Excel file, and I'd like to import them to QBD.

Thanks for posting an update about this reporting concern, @Evanscab.

 

At the moment, the system will only allow importing files like bank transactions, accountant’s changes, general journal entries, and batch transactions. You can also import name lists for customers and vendors.

 

Importing reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is currently unavailable as there are built-in reports within the program. See this link to learn more about the import options in QBDT: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop
