Can I snap picture of my checks/income for my profit/loss report as I did w my receipts for expenses??

Hello,

Currently receipt capture is only available for entering expenses and not income.

This IS a great idea though.  I encourage you to submit this through our feedback section by clicking the Gear Icon/Feedback in the upper right corner of QuickBooks Online.

It's nice to see you here in the Community forum, @aliciastarrett.

As of this time, in the Receipt forwarding feature, you can enter, attach, and track expense receipts. You can use the QuickBooks Online mobile app to scan and automatically upload receipts from your phone.

To capture images of your receipts and send them to QuickBooks, you can email the expense receipts so you'll see them in the Receipts tab.

For additional reference, I'm adding some articles that you may find helpful:

So would we be able to capture the checks and save the images even if QBO won't recognize or record them?  It'd leave an untidy "pile" of unreviewed transactions, but they'd theoretically still be there to view come month/year-end, right?  You could theoretically attach the check images to the payments or deposits by downloading and re-uploading each image and then clearing the transaction upon completion.  If it works it's extra work, but it's an income version of saving transaction records until you're ready to record them until this functionality is added.

Thanks for joining this thread, @cheeks622,

We recognize the urgency of having the option to capture checks and matching them to your expenses in QuickBooks Online. This is also something that we want to be added in our program. Rest assured, I'll make it a priority that this reaches our Development Team.

While this is currently unavailable, you can use the attachments feature to link these checks into QuickBooks. That way, you don't have to go through the matching process. To do that:

  1. Find the vendor or sales transaction you need to link with the attachment check.
  2. Open it then scroll down to the bottom.
  3. Click the Attachments section to add the check that is related to a vendor or customer's transactions.

To learn more about this functionality, see this Community guide: Attachments in QuickBooks Online

We appreciate your patience about this. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to leave them here. I'll be right here to help you. Have a good one!

Is it still the case that we cannot upload checks/income and match them to sales receipts already entered?

Thank you for joining the thread, @lisafamilypromisewaukesha. Let me share some update about the issue and provide you information that will help you resolve your concern.

The option to snap a check or income is unavailable. However, you can match these transactions on the Banking page and also through a CSV file.

Here's how to manually add transaction using a CSV file:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu and choose Banking.
  2. Click the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click the Link account dropdown and then Upload from file.
  4. Select Browse and then select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Next.
  5. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into and click Next.
  6. To match the columns in the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks, follow the onscreen instructions. Then choose Next.
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then choose Next.
  8. Click Yes and when you're good to go, select Let's go.

You can also click this article for a detailed steps in manually adding transaction and to match and categorize transactions.

I'd also suggest you use a third party app in the Intuit QuickBooks Apps that will allow you to upload a checks.

Here's how:

  1. Login to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Apps menu.
  3. Type in the clue word of the specific app or the one that relates to the task you're looking for.
  4.  Click the magnifying glass to search.

Just check this article in case, you might also want to upload your receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online in the future.

I can also help you in reconciling you bank transaction, just feel free to post a reply. Have a good one!
