Can I start fresh?

I inherited management of our QBO system, and it’s pretty disorganized from multiple users adding products and expenses over several versions of software. Is there a way to start fresh while still saving precious years’ data?

Can I start fresh?

Thank you for visiting the Community, @Squarerootsfarm.

Currently, there isn't an integrated way to automatically start fresh while saving previous years' data.

Don't worry, you can start from scratch in a different way. Let me provide you a sequenced list of how to do this.

  1. Export your lists from the old account.
  2. Cancel your account subscription.
  3. Sign up for a new account.
  4. Import the lists from the old account.
  5. Manually recreate all transactions.

To export your list, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Gear icon, choose Export Data.
  2. Click on the List tab.
  3. Check all the available list.
  4. Click on Export to Excel.

Feel free to read this article for more detailed instructions: Export Then Import List Data Into QuickBooks Online.

Then, follow these steps to cancel the account:

  1. Click on the Gear icon, choose Accounts and Settings.
  2. Select Billing and Subscription.
  3. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel.

Read this article for more information: How to Cancel Your Subscription?

Once done, you can now sign up for another QuickBooks account. After this, you'll need to import your list to your new account.

Lastly, manually enter your transactions to QuickBooks by clicking on the Plus (+) icon and choosing a transaction type.
